Paragon Testing Enterprises is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Carleton University to acquire the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment.

CAEL is a standardized academic English language test that was first developed by Carleton University in 1987. It is accepted by over 150 academic institutions across Canada and the United States and by several international institutions. The test is also accepted at a number of professional organizations, including the Canadian Veterinary Association, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).

CAEL offers a unique test taking experience as it is an integrated, task-based test on one topic. The test consists of a paper-based Written Assessment and a computer-delivered Oral Language Test. The test is administered at over 25 locations across Canada and in select cities internationally.

“Carleton has had a long, enjoyable history as administrator of CAEL and now we are happy to hand the reins to Paragon, which is very well positioned to take over.” said Ed Kane VP of Assistant Vice President University Services at Carleton University.

“Paragon is delighted to have been selected to take over CAEL”  said Dr. Donald Wehrung, President and CEO of Paragon. “We are working hard to ensure a smooth transition and to earn the trust of the valued CAEL testing partners and all of the organizations that rely on CAEL.”
