The Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment is a standardized test of English designed to describe the level of English of test takers planning to study in an English-medium college or university, or to apply for membership in various professional associations. It is an alternative to the American TOEFL and the British IELTS-Academic Training. The CAEL Assessment is an integrated-skills academic English test. The Reading, Listening, and Writing components are all on the same topic.
Topics for the CAEL Assessment are drawn from the arts, sociology, anthropology, business, engineering, sports, law, and medicine. Possible topics include criminal behaviour, global warming, urban development, cultural diversity, weather systems, team management, competition, and organizational behaviour.
Coming in 2017, the CAEL Assessment will launch its computer delivered version, CAEL CE (Computer Edition). Visit the CAEL CE webpage for more information.
