Responsibilities

Passage writers will:

  • create and develop new passages for Paragon’s language assessment tests,
  • complete passage writing training packages prior to commencing item writing.
  • follow Paragon’s passage development principles and identify areas for improvements, if necessary,
  • work from a secure and private work location,
  • adhere to the test security protocol set out by the Test Security unit at Paragon, and
  • meet passage production timelines and manage their weekly workload.

Position Requirements

Education

Qualified candidates will possess, or be working toward, a Doctoral degree from an accredited university. Particular interest is currently in the following fields:

  • anthropology
  • astronomy
  • biology
  • business management
  • chemistry
  • criminology
  • economics
  • engineering
  • forestry
  • geography
  • history
  • oceanography
  • psychology
  • sociology

 

Experience

A qualified candidate should have at least 3 years of professional teaching experience in their field of specialization. Current professors or teaching assistants are preferred. Experience teaching ESL learners or working in international environments is an asset.

Position status: contract

Start date: as soon as possible

Compensation: commensurate with experience

Location of work: home or secure and private location in Canada

The screening task will take 1 to 2 hours and is not compensated.
