Job Title: Assistant Manager, Test Centre Operations

PARAGON is looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Manager to join its Test Centre Operations unit to complement its dynamic Manager and dedicated team of Account Service Representatives. This unit delivers the company’s CELPIP tests at more than 20 Test Centres across Canada most of which have been established in the past year and are operated by partner organizations. While the Manager is responsible for establishing and operating new CELPIP Test Centres during their first six months of test operations, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for operating the Test Centres after their first six months under the direction of the Manager. In addition, the Assistant Manager will take on principal responsibility for monitoring and managing the consistency of test operations, policies, and performance at Test Centres, while the Manager continues to develop and establish new Test Centres. The position reports to the Manager, Test Centre Operations.

Revised CELPIP Levels May 3

The CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS Test levels will be revised for all tests written on and after May 3, 2013. The revisions are being made to discriminate English proficiency levels up to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 10.

Currently the CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS tests are scored from a level of 0 (the lowest) to 5 (the highest), with sublevels for 2, 3, and 4, respectively. As of May 3, 2013, the CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS Test level 5 will also include sublevels 5L and 5H. The chart below summarizes the changes.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will join the Technology team as an intern and help senior software professionals on the team with the implementation and maintenance of interactive web-based applications and practice tests.

Responsibilities

Develop web-based instructional products and tests
Work directly with instructional designers and senior developers to help define and implement solutions
Perform quality assurance duties to ensure that software programs execute properly and return valid results

Requirements

HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, XML and JSON experience
HTML5 would be an asset
Knowledge of ASP.NET and/or ASP.NET MVC
Familiar with SQL Server, database queries and stored procedures
University student in Computer Science or related discipline
Quick learner and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment

Paragon Testing Enterprises is pleased to announce that the CELPIP-General Test is now designated by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) as proof of English language proficiency for those applying to immigrate to Canada under the new Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

CIC requires applicants under the Federal Skilled Trades Program to demonstrate basic language proficiency in either English or French at the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5 for speaking and listening, and CLB 4 for reading and writing. CIC states that this is due to the overall importance of language as a determinant of immigrant success and general health and safety reasons. CLB 4 is considered basic proficiency while those with CLB 5 can more effectively participate in and understand routine conversations.

Below is a chart to highlight the CLB level required for each language skill and their CELPIP-General Test proficiency level.

They will be offering our CELPIP-General LS Test which is used as proof of listening and speaking proficiency by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for those applying for Canadian citizenship.

Depending on the applicant’s occupation, CIC requires a minimum language requirement of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 or CLB 7 which would be a 3L or 4L respectively, on each component of the CELPIP-General Test.
